Even before he had become a Mormon, Harris had changed his religion at least five times.[16] After Smith's death, Harris continued this earlier pattern, remaining in Kirtland and accepting James J. Strang as Mormonism's new prophet, a prophet with his own set of supernatural plates and witnesses to authenticate them.[17] By , Harris had broken with .   It hardly needs to be said that all non-Mormon scholars consider “forgery is the virtually certain explanation” for the Book of Mormon. The Book of the Law of the Lord is a sacred book of scripture used by the Strangites, a sect of the Latter Day Saint is alleged to be a translation by the Strangite prophet James Strang of the Plates of Laban, which originally acquired by Nephi, a leading character in the early portion of the Book of Mormon.

Strang claimed to have translated them using the Urim and Author: Alleged to be part of the Law given to Moses. In a manner clearly intended to replicate the Three and the Eight Witnesses to the Book of Mormon, J. Strang produced four witnesses who testified that they themselves had dug the Voree Plates from the ground where he said that they would be discovered.

He crowned himself king, and was assassinated there by disgruntled followers. Comparison of the Strangite witnesses to the Book of Mormon witnesses Summary: James Strang's break-off sect produced eyewitnesses of buried records. Does this indicate that Joseph's ability to do so is neither surprising nor persuasive.

The Strangite witnesses were not all faithful, and some recanted and described the nature of the fraud. We have been repeatedly warned we are living in the last days.

The terminology has morphed over time. I remember hearing we are in the last two minutes of the last hour, as I was a youth. That changed over time to we are living in the last days. A few years back that changed to we live in perilou.

I asked Shepard what was the biggest differences between Strangite theology and LDS theology. While I was aware that Strang had translated the Brass Plates (mentioned in the Book of Mormon) into “The Book of the Law of the Lord” as well as the Voree Plates, I was quite shocked to learn the Strangites have a very different belief about Jesus.

Strang's plates were much less numerous than those of the Book of Mormon Apologists point to a few extremely obscure examples of ancient artifacts as examples of writing on metal plates as proof that the Gold Plates were plausible. Thing is, the number of plates in these examples are "much less numerous than those of the Book of Mormon".

The book is called “James J. Strang: Teachings of a Mormon Prophet.” It is out of print and can be hard to find at a reasonable price. We will learn more about Strangite beliefs.

Following James Strang’s prophetic call, he sought to gather people to his movement. The Strangite church is distinct from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which is larger and better-known. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the original church established by Joseph Smith.

The Strangite church is headquartered in an area of Burlington Wisconsin known as Voree. Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Mormon Road and Hwy.

TIL the Strangite sect of Mormonism also claims their scriptures have chiasmus. The succession crisis after Joseph’s death left many scrambling for a piece of the pie. One of these men was James Strang. He claimed he found ancient records, one an excerpt from the plates of Laban, the other a Record of Rajah Manchou of Vorito or the Voree plates.

The Book of Mormon deals with the race of Nephites (which would be Nephiim in Hebrew), the descendants of Nephi. Just as the Nephilim are giants, Nephi mentions on several occasions that he is “large in stature,” and there are hints that his progeny, too, are physically larger than their enemies, the Lamanites. The church was organized in New York on April 6, Since we have continuously been called the “Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints” in the same style most often used beforewithout the British hyphenation later adopted by the other Mormons.
