The original novella - How the West went to Hell - is a fine example of his work, and shows his story telling abilities with wondrous aplomb.

The story focuses on the town of Reapers Valley, and how the town is attacked by a demon - a man in white. The hell unfolds in a well-crafted Wild West setting/5(19).

Leave it to Eric S. Brown to mash the two together into something that is fast-paced, full of energy, and pretty damned fun with How the West Went to Hell.

The story involves that classic "a stranger comes to town" vibe when Nathan, dressed in the obligatory black outfit, comes calling/5. The original novella - How the West went to Hell - is a fine example of his work, and shows his story telling abilities with wondrous aplomb.

I have never read a book that I felt would be more perfect for the big screen than West How the West went to Hell book Hell. It has action, gun fights, romance, a never ending horde of zombies and a train sequence that would put every other train scene in the movies to shame/5(53).

Hell by Robert Olen Butler (pp. ) Hands down, one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. A surreal comedy set literally in Hell with deceased fictional journalist, Hatcher McCord as our tortured, philosophical tour guide who happens to be the current anchor for Evening Nightly News of Hell/5.

This book really got to me. As a Christian believer, it strengthened my belief not to go to Hell for anything. I was riveted and yes, appalled by the descriptions in Hell, and many will say that a good God could not do these things, but He has given us the choice of good and evil/5.
